[NEWS] Justin Timberlake confirmed as performing at BRIT Awards

0

It seems like every day we’re posting news about Justin Timberlake…. it’s not a bad thing; we’re big fans over here.

Anyhow, breaking news reached us earlier that Mr JT himself will be performing at February’s Mastercard BRIT Awards.

Timberlake joins a long line-up of big-name starts performing at this year’s ceremony; notably Beyonce. With both Beyonce and JT in the lineup, it remains to be seen if Jay-Z will accompany either/or/both of them onstage [fingers crossed].

Other big crowd-pleasers gracing the stage will be teen UK-export One Direction, along with Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande & Mumford & Sons.

This year’s ceremony marks 10 years since Justin Timberlake’s last BRITS performance – his infamous Kylie-grope made headlines for all the right reasons!

More BRIT Award news follows as soon as we get it.

[NEW MUSIC] Dido unveils dance-inspired new track

0

English singer/songwriter Dido, best known for her award-winning albums White Flag and Life For Rent, unveiled a new dance-inspired track today off her forthcoming album ‘Girl Who Got Away’.

‘Blackbird’ is the second track from the aforementioned long-play (due to be released March 4th) and is her first album since 2008’s ‘Safe Trip Home’.

Known for her mellow/folk-style of music, this is a big departure for the 41-year old; whether the industry is ready to hear Dido featuring on a dancier-beat remains to be seen though. Upon first play I was fairly underwhelmed, however listening on things start to get interesting. It has a fairly ‘fresh’ feel and wouldn’t feel out of place from a Hed Kandi Beach House album.

[NEWS] HMV staff vent over official Twitter feed

0

Earlier today, a group of unnamed HMV staff took to the organisation’s official Twitter account to give live updates on their immediate firing.

The tweets, which have since all been deleted, have shown the true feelings for the staff who genuinely wanted the brand to succeed. A sad time for music, and big wake-up-call organisations who believe it’s still ‘fair’ to treat their staff unfairly.

Staff breed success; treat your staff well and they will want to work for you and help advocate your brand.

Anyway, said tweets are below. Let’s hope these folk (as well as the other 3,940) find new jobs soon.

Timbaland signs to Roc Nation

0

“Roc Nation welcomes TIMBALAND to the family.” That’s all that needs to be said on that matter.

Announced a little over an hour ago on Jay-Z’s ‘Life & Times’ site, this is indeed a great signing for the Roc family. Not forgetting Mr Zed’s classic ‘Big Pimpin’, Timbaland has been credited with producing some of the biggest tracks in hip-hop history.

Currently working on Justin Timberlake’s new album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ as well as heavily involved with Missy Elliott’s forthcoming release, the signing to Roc Nation will no doubt ensure Timbaland’s work will spread out across the label’s ever-growing roster of artists (including Rihanna, MIA and Rita Ora).

Exciting news indeed.

[NEWS] Justin Timberlake to perform at The Grammy Awards

0

It’s been a fairly Timberlake-packed few days here, and to top it off, another piece of news hits us that Mr JT will be performing at next month’s 55th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

The annual event at LA’s Staples Centre has always been a coveted performing-slot, with standout performers including Michael Jackson (Man In The Mirror) and Gorillaz (performing a ‘mash-up’ with Madonna on Feel Good Inc & Hung Up). This year’s awards show, on February 10th, is set to feature some current pop-royalty, including our own prized export, Ed Sheeran. Timberlake’s performance is set to be the icing on the cake, particularly with his forthcoming new album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ set to drop just over one month later.

This isn’t Timberlake’s first Grammy performance – his 2007 set with ‘My Grammy Moment’-winner Robyn Troup drove a standing ovation; I would expect this year’s one to follow in familiar footsteps.

[NEW MUSIC x FREE DOWNLOAD] Rizzle Kicks – Earl Grey

0

They’re a bit like Marmite, these ‘Kicks’. I like them though; they make some fun music, whilst really got the crowds going at the numerous festivals they performed at last year. All in, it’s been a good 18 months for Harley and Jordan.

So, after the commercial success of debut album Stereo Typical, comes the difficult task of writing that sophmore LP. As a quick teaser for the [as yet untitled] second album, the lads have just leaked, for FREE, the fresh sounding single Earl Grey.

It’s very cool; hopefully the sound is something we can all look forward to this spring/summer… very omnipresent of sitting out in the sun with some chilled vibes out in the background.

The free download and accompanying video can be found below

Good work lads.

[NEWS] Justin Timberlake’s new album gets confirmed release date

0

Last week we speculated regarding the release date of Justin Timberlake’s new release after keeping a close eye on the hidden clues on the ‘Suit & Tie’ lyric video (rumour – here, video – here).

Well this morning, Sony Music confirmed via a tweet (below) that we weren’t far off. Well, they didn’t mention us; we predicted 19th March – the official release is 18th March.

That’s right folks, only 7 weeks to go until Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience’ appears in an iTunes Store near you!

We are excited to announce that @jtimberlake‘s new album #The2020Experience is due for release in the UK on March 18th!

[NEW MUSIC] Talib Kweli – Upper Echelon

0

To any rap-fan, the name Talib Kweli will always ring greatness. It’s hard to believe that the infamous Brooklyn MC has been on the scene for over 17 years, with each release driving the same thought-provoking verses as before.

Whilst 2010’s ‘Gutter Rainbows’ failed to reach the sales levels of his previous releases, the persistent rapper has refused to remain downbeat about the whole thing, instead going straight back to the studio to work on follow-up LP ‘Prisoner of Conscious’ (due April 2013).

Kweli released the first single off the album in July 2012; however today we bring you single #2, which I personally believe could be some of his best work for many years.

The video (below) has that sorta Cassidy’s ‘I’m A Hustla’ feel… you’ll see what I mean:

[NEW MUSIC] PJ Morton ft Stevie Wonder – ‘Only One’

0

Grammy award-winner (and Young Money-signed) PJ Morton has just graced the interwebs with new song ‘Only One’; a duet with none other than the legendary Stevie Wonder. ‘Only One’ is set to be the second release of Morton’s forthcoming album ‘New Orleans’, set to be released in April 2013.

With a writing catalogue along the music royalty of LL Cool J, Jermaine Dupri, Jagged Edge and India Arie, Morton’s gospel roots are likely to help bring soulful RnB out of the grave it’s been buried in for the last couple of years.

It seems to be a good time for YMCMR, with Morton’s new LP being just one of the multitude of artists releasing music this year.

Check out ‘Only One’ below.

[NEW MUSIC] Chris Brown drops new track ft The Luvaboy TJ

0

Having started the day with news of Chris Brown’s alleged fight with Frank Ocean over a parking space (yes, really!), Breezy’s positive PR machine has clearly been switched on with the dropping of new track ‘Jumping Out The Plane’.

The track, featuring new artist The Luvaboy TJ, is set to feature on Brown’s forthcoming studio album ‘Carpe Diem’. I’m not the biggest fan of Brown, but must say this is pretty cool. The hook’s great, and whilst the vocals could do with a bit of autotune-dumming-downness, I quite like it. It’s better than some of the other pop/RnB/’rap’ that’s been floating the charts of late, though if this is the best that’s been around, then many of those #yearofthecomeback artists’ returns could not have come soon enough.
