[RUMOUR] Kanye West to collaborate with Beyonce, Skrillez & Florence Welch on new album

0

Beyonce, Pusha T, Frank Ocean, Skrillex & Florence Welch are amongst the collaborators set to appear on Kanye West’s forthcoming album ‘Rich Black American’.

The album, set to be released this year, is the follow-up to 2010’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, with the rumoured tracklisting apparently leaked online an hour ago.

The line-up seems to complement the various stories over the past 12 months, particularly with West’s announcement of working on a new track about Kim Kardashian entitled ‘Perfect Bitch’ as well as Skrillex announcing last year he was working on the new LP.

Either way, fresh new material from Kanye isn’t too far away, this is always a good sign…. right?

[NEWS] AlunaGeorge achieve their first Top 5 iTunes single

0

Electronic duo AlunaGeorge have scored their first Top 5 hit with their collaboration with dance group Disclosure.

Probably one of the greatest tracks of the year so far, ‘White Noise’ has gone straight in at #2 on the iTunes UK download chart. London-based AlunaGeorge has been simmering on the scene for the last couple of years and are widely expected to crack 2013 with their unique blend of soulfully-sweet vocals with and experimental beats.

[NEWS] Destiny’s Child reunite on Superbowl stage

0

All three members of Destiny’s Child reunited on stage at Sunday night’s NFL Superbowl in New Orleans. The girls – Beyonce Knowles [Carter], Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, joined Beyonce toward the end of her astonishing 15 minute set to a medley of some of their greatest hits.

Kelly and Michelle popped up on stage to perform a quick snip of hit ‘Bootylicious’, and then went on to ‘Independent Woman Pt1; finishing with joining Beyonce on her smash ‘Single Ladies’. The girls then departed to leave Beyonce to end the set with ‘Halo’.

The overall 15-minute set was fantastic, however Beyonce was the clear champion whilst Kelly and Michelle’s vocals seemed to fade into the background and take more of a BV role.

All in all though, a good performance (though somewhat surprised they didn’t perform new song ‘Nuclear’).

[NEWS] Destiny’s Child official Twitter feed confirms Superbowl performance

Two pieces of associated news just in:

1) Destiny’s Child have an official Twitter account (at 2,000 followers when I checked first; then 4,600 about 1 minute later… madness!).
2) A tweet 20 minutes ago essentially confirmed the group’s participation at the Superbowl halftime show (below)

The tweet, simply stating ‘Getting Ready’ pretty much says it all….

Getting Ready.

Exciting times for the #yearofthecomeback

[NEWS] Superbowl cheerleader unwittingly confirms Destiny’s Child reunion

0

Heavily denied by both Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, it seems that actually a Destiny’s Child performance at tonight’s Superbowl could well happen.

Courtney Labat, cheerleader for the NFL, ‘accidentally’ let the cat out of the bag when during a mid-rehearsal interview. When sneakily asked how rehersals with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were going, Labat replied “Yeah, they’ve been awesome. We were actually able to see the show yesterday.”

Adding more fuel to this fire, another superfan, who’s also working at the annual NFL game, sent out a few tweets to help back up these rumours (see below).

Vh1 concert was great! Today @cnn bleacher report! Tomorrow, with Beyoncé, Kelly & Michelle will be awesomess.

— 😉 (@cnoellashow) February 2, 2013

I cant believe I just had this amazing experience with Beyoncé , Kelly & Michelle!

— 😉 (@cnoellashow) February 1, 2013

Though absent from the airwaves as a three-piece for a while, a Destiny’s Child performance (plus a rumoured new album too) will definitely support this year’s #yearofthecomeback moniker. With new track ‘Nuclear’ now on general release, it’s inevitable that a live performance will help support sales.

[VIDEO] Justin Timberlake performs new songs; introduces new band

0

Justin Timberlake surprised guests at a pre-Superbowl charity event last night by not only introducing his new band (JT and the Tennessee Kids) but also previewing a couple of new tracks off his forthcoming 20/20 Experience album.

Timberlake opened his set at the annual New Orleans event, co-hosted by Dallas Maverick-owner Mark Cuban, with an introduction to his new show-band, and then kicked off with first solo hit ‘Like I Love You’.

After running through a selection of tracks from his debut and sophmore albums (as well as a fusion of Cry Me A River with Ni**as In Paris), Timberlake unveiled two new tracks. Both ‘Little Pusher Live Girl’ and ‘That Girl’ (both below) are widely expected to appear on JT’s soon-to-be-dropped new album.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough; the set was ended by latest smash ‘Suit and Tie’. Throwing on a stellar performance and then bringing in hip-hop heavyweight (and collaborator) Jay-Z sealed the evening as a VERY welcome comeback to Timberlake, as well as ensuring he definitely has bought some cool and class back.

Drake – Started From The Bottom

0

One week earlier than originally announced, rapper Drake took to the web today (2nd February) to unveil his new single ‘Started From The Bottom’.

The track, which is to be the lead single to his as-yet-untitled third album, is his first release since 2012’s ‘Take Care’, featuring Barbadian artist Rihanna.

Assisting the track’s release on his blog, the rapper also enclosed the following words:

“My good friends,

It has truly been too long. I assume you’re all keeping well and making the most of this year that has been given to us. Today is the day to begin sharing my newest work with you. This is the first single off of my upcoming album. I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events.

My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well.

I didn’t feel I needed any interviews or radio or press to launch this song. It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me. Judging by this post, the tour that we’ve been planning, the conversations about new songs and album artwork…I think it’s safe to say we’re back together again. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.”

[VIDEO] Snoop Lion – Lighters Up

0

After an interesting leak of the track appeared in December, Snoop Lion (neé Dogg) has just released the official accompanying video.

Featuring Mavado & Popcaan and produced by heavyweights Dre Skull and Major Lazer, ‘Lighters Up’ marks an interesting shift of music for the former gangsta rapper. Personally, I haven’t been too enthralled by any Snoop material over the past 10 years or so, however this track has been fixed on my iPhone since its initial release. The video is a welcome bonus to this.

The track will appear on Lion’s forthcoming Reggae-inspired album ‘Reincarnated’, though the artist is set to return to his ‘Dogg’ rap roots for his Bestival appearance later this year.

Essentially:
– Lion = reggae
– Dogg = rap

obviously….

Elli Ingram covers Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Poetic Justice’

0

Anyone who keeps their eye on UK YouTube artists will be well acquainted with songstress Elli Ingram. Her jazzy, soulful takes on various big tracks have made her some what of an underground sensation, and yesterday she released her version of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Poetic Justice’.

The 19 year-old Ingram hit the big time last year with her fantastic cover of Labrinth’s ‘Earthquake’ as well as a brilliant fusion of Kanye West’s ‘Lost In The World’ with K & J’s ‘No Church In The Wild’ (both of these can be heard below).

Back to Poetic Justice, this is, quite simply, wonderful. At time of writing this, there were just over 600 Soundcloud plays.. I must’ve contributed to about 20 of them. Get used to the ‘repeat’ button – you’ll need it.

Now, how can we get this girl signed? Check out her previous work as well as her video to Poetic Justice, below:

[NEWS] Nero formally announce new material

0

British dubstep group Nero have taken to Twitter this evening to officially announce their return to the music scene this year.

The tweet, simply stating “2013…. we return!” will mark their first release since 2011’s debut album ‘Welcome Reality’, certified gold both in the UK and Australia.

2013….we return!
— Nero (@NeroUK) February 1, 2013

Album updates soon x
— Nero (@NeroUK) February 1, 2013

Though they haven’t been away long enough to count the group under the #yearofthecomeback moniker, it’s still good to hear they’re going to be releasing new music this year. 2011’s ‘Promises’, which featured the smash remix with Skrillex, captured the UK festival scene… fingers crossed we’ll be hearing some similar anthems again this year.

The group also tweeted that album updates will follow soon; of course we’ll be there to update once we have any more info to report. In the meantime, check out Promises below.
