[NEW MUSIC] True Tiger remix Mikill Pane’s ‘Good Feeling’

0

Production powerhouse True Tiger have put their unique spin on Mikill Pane’s new track ‘Good Feeling’.

The original track featured Pane on cheeky-chappie mode, bringing a lighthearted sound to the airwaves – combining summery sounds with a slight Example-ish sound. We’re BIG fans of that track over here at Stagedoor FM.

Now, onto the remix… The lads of True Tiger have put on a dirty grimey dubstep beat that totally changes the direction of the track, yet at times still retaining the light ‘smiley’ tones of the original track. It’s brilliant.

Check out both the remix (courtesy of UKF) and Pane’s original below:

[NEWS] Elton John set for music return with new album in September

0

Music legend Elton John is set to return to the charts with a new studio album this September.

According to reports by Billboard, the new album, tentatively titled ‘The Diving Board’ will consist of 13 tracks written with long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin.

Speaking of the forthcoming album, Sir Elton said:

The album is a mix of gospel, blues, jazz, brass band music, pop and a waltz – everything I love about American music. Taupin treats each song as a short story that, in turn, giving the work a cinematic feel. This is the album I should be making after ‘The Union.’ It’s my most adult album.”

The tentative tracklisting for the new album looks to be as follows:

“Oceans Away”
“Oscar Wilde Gets Out”
“A Town Called Jubilee”
“The Ballad of Blind Tom”
“My Quicksand”
“Can’t Stay Alone Tonight”
“Voyeur”
“Home Again”
“Take This Dirty Water”
“The New Fever Waltz”
“Mexican Vacation (Kids in the Candlelight)”
“Candlelit Bedroom”
“The Diving Board”

[NEWS] Madonna named music’s biggest earner in 2012

0

Sky News has reported that Madonna has been named the biggest money maker in the music industry – with her world tour helping her take home almost $34.6m (£23m) last year.

Billboard Magazine’s annual list of 40 top money makers put the 54-year-old Material Girl top for the second time in five years.

It said she earned an estimated $32m (£21m) – more than 90% of her revenue – from her 88-date MDNA tour, which was the biggest tour of 2012.

In second place in the music magazine’s list was Bruce Springsteen, whose $33.4m (£22m) was also mainly driven by touring, playing to sold-out stadiums and arenas.

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters came a distant third with earnings of $21m (£13.9m) largely from The Wall Live tour.

Van Halen were fourth with $20m (£13.2m) after touring in support of their album A Different Kind Of Truth.

Country music veteran Kenny Chesney, the Dave Matthews Band, country stars Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean, and Coldplay came next on the list.

Justin Bieber was 10th, earning almost $16m (£10.6m), of which about $10m (£6.6m) came from his sold-out Believe arena tour.

“The entire Top 10 averaged 84.2% of their income from concerts,” said Billboard.

“The number would have been higher if not for Justin Bieber’s mere 60.1% share at No 10 dragging down the average.”

However, touring was not vital for every act on the list.

Adele took the year out after having a baby, but still banked nearly $14m (£9.2m), putting her 11th in the rankings, due to continuing strong sales for her album 21.

Taylor Swift earned $12.7m (£8.4m) after selling the most digital tracks in 2012.

She sold more than three million digital albums and 15.6 million digital songs driven by her hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

[NEW MUSIC] Moon Boots remixes Bondax’s ‘Gold’

0

‘Gold’, the latest track from psychadelic/vocal/smooth producers Bondax has been given the remix treatment by Moon Boots. Whilst the standard radio edit of the track brings together slow/mid-tempo fusions of house, garage and potentially a bit of hip-hop in there, the Moon Boots remix funks it up a bit more to become a standout track in itself.

‘Gold’ is one of those tracks that I believe will stand the test of time. Bondax are two northern teenage producers – if they’re coming up with tracks like that in their teens, imagine how good they’ll be in their 20s.

It’s a great time for the UK dance scene at the moment. Check out both the original and Moon Boots remixes of ‘Gold’ below:

[NEWS] Kanye West goes on the offence against JT, Jay-Z, The Grammys and Obama

Multi award-winning producer/rapper Kanye West took to the stage tonight at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, and aside from going through his back catalogue, he also decided to add onto his impressive list of anti-everything rants… with some more.

First on the agenda was Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake’s collaboration on ‘Suit & Tie’. Telling the audience “I got love for Hov, but I aint fucking with that suit & tie”.

Number two? Well President Obama of course, this time saying “I don’t give a fuck what the president got to say”.

Third up, The Grammy Awards. Clearly the most prestigious of all music awards around, and the one that every artist strives to achieve. Not Mr West, no. Saying that “The grammys can suck my dick; I’ve never won a Grammy against a White person”.

[NEWS] Chrisette Michele and Keyshia Cole announce joint tour

0

R&B stars Chrisette Michele and Keyshia Cole have announced a joint US tour. The tour will be titled ‘Woman to Woman’, mirroring Cole’s fantastic 2012 fifth album of the same name. Unsurprisingly Cole will be the key headliner of the tour, whilst Michele will be there to provide support, and likely plug, her forthcoming LP ‘Better’.

Says Urbanbridgez.com, the tour announcement continues an exciting run for Cole. First, the Grammy-nominated artist bared her soul on Woman to Woman; an effort which earned her the #2 position on the US R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. The record was host to singles “Enough of No Love” and “Trust and Believe”; the first, a passionately belted up tempo track, with the latter serving as a confessional, yet catchy tale of broken trust.

In addition to the release of her fifth studio album, Cole also starred alongside husband Daniel Gibson in BET’s hit reality series “Keyshia & Daniel: Family First.” She’s slated to hit the Essence Festival stage for the fourth time this July.

[NEWS/FREE DOWNLOAD] Major Lazer delay album; give away free music to soften the blow

0

Diplo’s musical project ‘Major Lazer’ have announced a delay to their new album. The widely anticipated ‘Free The Universe’ was originally expected for a March 16th release however the revised date is yet to be confirmed.

Unfortunately album delays do happen (take Dr Dre’s Detox as a prime example), however unlike most artists, Major Lazer have decided to grace us with three volumes of FREE music to whet our appetite.

Of the delay, the group said:

The upcoming album, “FREE THE UNIVERSE,” has been been kidnapped by General Rubbish and we all must embark on an epic journey to upset his evil plan so we can free the universe as planned with the album.

Our fans are the most important part of what makes Major Lazer what it is. It is with that consideration that “FREE THE UNIVERSE” will not be released this month as previously scheduled. We never want to disappoint our supporters but circumstances out of our control have made us unable to keep the intended date. For anyone disappointed, we are truly apologetic and we promise that this hiccup has only made what we have planned for the album stronger. We tried extremely hard to keep the date but it was ultimately decided that rushing the album would have been unfair to you and everyone who worked so hard on it. An iTunes exclusive pre-order in the US will launch next Tuesday, 2/26 which will feature an instant grat download of “Watch Out for This (Bumaye).”

Major Lazer have worked with a number of big-name artists since their inception in 2008, notably providing the beat for Beyonce’s worldwide smash ‘Run The World (Girls)’ back in 2011.

[FREE DOWNLOAD] Labrinth releases acoustic of ‘Treatment’ for free download

0

We’ve been a bit late to this one admittedly, however acclaimed British producer/rapper/singer Labrinth decided to give away a little acoustic freebie yesterday.

The guitar-ladden version of ‘Treatment’ (off Labrinth’s debut smash EP Electronic Earth) is stunning. This man is ridiculously talented – I could listen to this all day!

Check it out below and let us know what you think.
