[NEW MUSIC/FREE DOWNLOAD] Alex Adams releases ‘Lola’ as he prepares for gigs

0

We’re always keen to introduce new artists here at Stagedoor.FM, and Alex Adams is one of those rare treats that could be destined for great things.

The Brighton-born lad has been making great waves in the live circuit of late, with stints at noteworthy venues such as The Cavern, The Borderline, The Underbelly, Rock City (to name a few), and whilst he’s preparing for debut single release ‘Control’ in April, he’s decided to leak ‘Lola’ as a free download to help spread the word.

It’s quite a catchy track if truth be told…. with a look not far-removed from Daniel Merriweather, and a sound close to Olly Murs (which will please the pop crowd), Adams has done well utilising this track to get himself noticed.

Speaking about why he decided to distribute ‘Lola’ for free, Adams mooted “I personally wanted to give something back to those amazing audiences who share that incredible adrenalin rush with me every time I perform. ‘Lola’ is for them, a way of saying thanks.”

Alex’s official debut single comes in the form of ‘Control’, released on 15 April. Self-penned, Adams depicts the need to take control of a situation in those times when you feel as if you’re losing your grip. The message is wrapped in the modern R&B mastery of this track which plays host to Alex’s soaring vocals – a voice that’s unique in every way to any other artist out there.

For those who want to see what the fuss is about, you can check Alex out on the live circuit over the next month. Dates are:

Mar 05 The Haunt – Brighton
Mar 06 The Star – Guildford
Mar 07 The Cellars At Eastney – Portsmouth
Mar 22 Rattlesnake of Angel – London

Stream ‘Lola’ on the Soundcloud link at the top of this page (including free download), and check out the video after the jump. Watch out for this kid, I have a feeling you could be hearing a bit more about him over the next 6 months or so!

[NEWS] Simon Cowell goes to find the next global YouTube star in ‘The You Generation’

0

Music mogul Simon Cowell has announced the latest instalment in his talent-show programs, but with a modern-day twist.

Cowell’s ‘The You Generation’, set to launch 20th March 2013, will be a global talent search allowing contestants to audition via YouTube. He took to the site as the obvious platform to share the news with a trailer that can be seen below.

The ‘search’ is expected to last for up to a year, with a new ‘talent’ being hunted every fortnight to find an eventual winner.

Syco teaming up with the online video site is the most obvious next progression for both parties – the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lily Allen all found their fame by using essentially ‘freemium’ methods of distributing their content. The global reach of YouTube, combined with the massive advertising opportunities that will no-doubt be available with the show, will have appealed to both the record label and the YouTube’s parent company Google.

It’s the first time we’ve done things this way round’.

[NEWS] Creamfields announce The Prodigy, Madeon, TIËSTO in monster lineup

Last week, Creamfields’ organisers told us to prepare for their biggest line-up yet. Today, the dance festival lived up to that promise.

After investing over £500,000 into improvements onto the Creamfields site (after last year’s torrential rain forced the site to close), organisers have announced a killer line-up to celebrate their 15th anniversary.

Joining them will be additional huge household names, including Madeon, Eric Prydz, Groove Armada and Sub Focus, whilst big-name DJ sets will come from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Toddla T Sound and Mistajam.

[WATCH] Laura Mvula covers Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’ in 1xtraLive Lounge

Laura Mvula’s certainly been making waves of late. Though known amongst the underground musos for a while now, a stint on Graham Norton’s show threw her into the eyes of the masses, and there’s been no turning back since.

Today, Mvula entered 1xtra’s Live Lounge as Trevor Nelson’s guest. As well as singing new track ‘Green Garden’, beautifully I might add, she also covered Michael Jackson’s infamous ‘Human Nature’.

Stripping down the track in its entirety, Mvula would certainly make Jackson smile with this rendition. It’s sublime, with goose bumps ensuing.

Kendrick Lamar’s rise to fame may be seen as unprecedented, however it’s also hugely deserved. In his seemingly short career, he’s already worked with the likes of Drake, Dr Dre, Warren G and Busta Rhymes, whilst he’s amassed a huge online following too.

Last night he took to the stage on David Letterman’s US show to promote single ‘Poetic Justice’, and what a fantastic performance it was. Vocals were on-point, whilst the supporting band also wowed… That saxophonist – brilliant!

    Check out the performance below:
