Timberlake performs ‘Strawberry Bubblegum’ on Jimmy Fallon

0

Justin Timberlake has premiered his first live performance of ‘Strawberry Bubblegum’ on CNBC’s ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’.

Marking his fourth-day-in-a-row appearance on the show, Timberlake performed with his own band ‘The Tennessee Kids’ on the funky, smooth ballad.

Whilst the lyrics do seem fairly self-indulgent, the performance really is true JT, and probably one of my favourite tracks off forthcoming long-player ‘The 20/20 Experience’.

[NEWS] Annie Mac Presents stage confirmed for Lovebox

0

Tis the season for festival updates it seems…. Earlier this evening, organisers of 2013’s LoveBox Festival announced that the undisputed Queen of Friday Nights, Annie Mac, will be bringing her AMP to the event.

Of the announcement, Mac says “I’m really excited to be bringing AMP to Lovebox this year! This is our first relationship with a London festival and Lovebox is the ideal fit. We love the vibe…”.

This is an exciting edition for the event; AMP always breaks the latest new music out there, and I’m sure, with what we’ve seen of late, an AlunaGeorge announcement will not be far off… wherever AMP goes, AG seems to follow.

More festival news as we get it.

[LISTEN] AlunaGeorge covers The Jungle Book, live on Annie Mac

0

Yep, you read that right. Band-of-the-moment AlunaGeorge took to Annie Mac (covering Zane Lowe’s) show last night to perform their live cover of….. The Jungle Book’s ‘Monkey Song’.

The song, widely known as ‘I Wan’na Be Like You’ was a surprise turn by the band but lead-singer Aluna Francis still managed to put a unique twist on this Disney classic. I’m a massive fan of the band, but unfortunately this was probably not their greatest public move in all fairness.

Whilst the cover does showcase front-woman Aluna Francis’ sublime vocals, it was, in its entirety, something fairly, ummm, ‘goofy’ if you excuse the Disney-esque pun.

Justin Timberlake funks up with ‘Let The Groove Get In

0

Justin Timberlake really couldn’t have looked any happier to be back on stage on last night’s ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ show.

The star, who’s clearly owning 2013, bought some funk to the show, performing new track ‘Let The Groove Get In’ with both his own band and The Roots, all dressed appropriately to the Latino-themed beat.

The performance was Timberlake’s third appearance on the show this week, after a captivating performance of album-opener ‘Pusher Love Girl’ followed by a barbershop-quartet version of ‘SexyBack’ earlier in the week.

‘Let The Groove In’ will appear on Timberlake’s forthcoming album ‘The 20/20 Experience’, due out Monday. The star will also be headlining this year’s Yahoo Wireless Festival alongside cohort Jay-Z.

[LISTEN x NEW MUSIC] MutyaKeishaSiobhan – ‘Laying Down In SwimmingPools’

0

Here it is folks; whilst not the first single from their as-yet-unnamed forthcoming album, here’s your chance to hear ex-Sugababes MutyaKeishaSiobhan’s sweet vocals on new track ‘Laying Down In Swimming Pools’.

Producer Dev Hynes, who the girls have been famously recording with in LA, shared this iteration of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Swimming Pools’ on his Soundcloud page earlier today. The producer opened the track, saying: “Just finished recording new music with Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan, and the girls felt like having a bit of fun at the end of the last session – enjoy!!”

There’s plenty of excitement in the air regarding the follow-up to 2000’s ‘One Touch’, however if this cover is anything to go by, there should be very little reason to disappoint. If this is what the girls have recorded ‘for fun’, with vocals this tight, roll on the album I say.

[VIDEO] Trey Songz releases video for new single ‘Fumble’

0

US R&B artist Trey Songz has released the visual for his latest single ‘Fumble’.

The emotional ballad is the latest track to be released off the artist’s critically-acclaimed 2012 LP ‘Chapter V’, which shot to the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic last year.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, Songz highlighted the video’s rawness, by alluding – “It’s basically a song about having the one person that’ll do whatever for you, the one person that’ll go to the end of the world and back, and you not realizing it until it’s damn near too late. It’s essentially about having someone’s heart in your hands and dropping it.”

[NEWS] Spotify set to announce its 6 millionth paying subscriber

0

Spotify CEO & co-founder Daniel Ek is expected to take to the stage at SXSW later on toda to announce the service has registered its six-millionth paying subscriber.

According to tech site CNET, the music streaming service has already taken onboard number six-million – an impressive feat when users have access to a majority of the service’s features for free.

The service has three simple tiered bands – free, £5 or £10 (the equivalent costings appear in other regions too), and many music-heads agree that it’s thanks to the likes of Spotify that the music industry is no longer dying on its feet. A high percentage of users go on to actually purchase tracks that they have shared on Spotify and use the resource as a ‘trial’ medium.

Not only is the 6-million figure impressive, it’s also encouraging to see how fast Spotify’s user-growth is. With 1 million sign-ups in the past three months alone, it’s an exciting time to be working for the service. One insider paints the picture that the organisation is well on its way to achieving the coveted $1bn revenue figure by the end of this year (revenue appears from paid-subs as well as brand advertising).

However, it’s not all that rosy. Remember, this is the music industry – according to CNET calculations, almost 75% of all revenue generated gets paid out in music royalties. That leaves just 25% to cover everything else – R&D, resource, servers, advertising etc.

Still, this is great news for a company that many thought would not have a future! Great work Spotify…. now, how can I buy shares?

2

This. Is. The. One! Producer Skream has followed up his massive take on Duke Dumont’s ‘Need U 100%’ with a preview remix of Rudimental’s 2012 smash ‘Hell Could Freeze’.

Keeping with Skream’s disco-esque vibes, the 1:19 remix further exemplifies why the producer is so highly sought-after.

The track is expected to appear on the 4-piece’s new EP ‘Waiting All Night’, expected for release on 14th April.

Take a listen of what’s to come below. It’s fantastic!
