It’s been almost 18 months since its first initial teasing, but Robyn has finally delivered her long-awaited ‘Honey’.
Following on from July’s ‘Missing U‘, ‘Honey’ appears as the title-track from the Swedish pop maestro’s upcoming new studio album, set to land in October.
Eager fans will no-doubt hear some kind of similarity to initial snippets that appeared last year, when an early version of the song was used in the final season of HBO series ‘Girls’ back in March. Since then, ‘Honey’ has been jigged around a fair whack, to the point almost unrecognisable from its early airing.
“It’s not produced or written as a normal pop song. It is totally based on this idea of club music” Robyn reveals of the song – “When you’re listening to club music, there’s no reward. The reward isn’t, ‘Oh, here’s the chorus, here’s the lyric that makes sense.’ You have to enjoy what it is. You have to enjoy that there’s no conclusion… Club music taught me so much about myself. Having patience, or appreciating a different type of way of taking in life…It’s a hypnotic thing. Time stops, and I don’t even think about where I am when I hear music like that. That’s the high that I want. That’s what I need.”
