Busta Rhymes and Nicki Minaj unveil ‘Twerk It’ remix video

Busta Rhymes has unveiled the official visual accompaniment to his last single Twerk It.

Featuring US femcee Nicki Minaj on the remix, Twerk It (which was released way back at the beginning of June) combines dancehall with a bubble-esque trap beat.

It’s a fairly fresh direction for Busta, yet also bizarre that the rapper would release a video so long after the track’s on-sale date. Nevertheless, whilst it’s a very ‘un-Busta’ track, it’s still great to hear him spitting bars again.

It’s widely expected that Twerk It will feature on the rapper’s upcoming album E.L.E. 2, the follow-up to his global smash Extinction Level Event.

Sam Smith debuts new single ‘Safe With Me’

Premiered just now on Mistajam’s 1Xtra show, Sam Smith laid bare the first single from his forthcoming EP Safe With Me.

Proving his vocal ability covers multiple ranges, the breakbeat ballad oozes sophistication – never have I been so hooked on a ‘toe tapping’ ballad since Justin Timberlake first played the world My Love back in 2006.

New remix: DJ Snake remixes AlunaGeorge’s ‘You Know You Like It’

French producer DJ Snake has put his mark on AlunaGeorge’s last release You Know You Like It, taken from the duo’s forthcoming album Body Music.

The plucky remix adds elements of trap (the good kind!) against a haunting backdrop with some stunning vocal variations to really add a new layer to the already-fantastic track.

British psychedelic-rock piece The Klaxons have remixed Mutya Keisha Siobhan’s forthcoming single Flatline.

The band, widely known for their 2007 breakthrough track Golden Skans have been fairly distant from the chart scene of late, so this remix is a welcome return.

The audio adds a very unique level to the track, with a strong focus on Siobhan’s vocal of the chorus’ ‘I can feel a flatline’.

Check out the remix below. It’s different, but superb all the same. No doubt this’ll go down a storm in club-land!

Swedish dance-pop duo Icona Pop have unveiled their new single All Night.

Acting as the follow-up to their global smash I Love It (initially released over 12 months ago, but somehow only made prominence this year), All Night is set to be the last single to precede the release of the group’s debut album This Is… Icona Pop, expected for release on September 24th.

UK Garage legend Wookie has returned to the scene, bringing Eliza Doolittle along for the ride.

For those who have fond memories of the UK Garage scene in the late 90s, the name Wookie will be synonymous with classics as Battle and the Soul II Soul-sampling ‘What’s Going On’. His return to the music scene in new track The Hype is one that simply oozes class. Doolittle’s vocals are simply effortless, whilst the beat is 2013-ready 2-step. It’s just divine.

In preparation for the release of her new single Artpop, a ‘leaked’ video showing Lady Gaga seductively licking a monster’s hand has appeared online.

The video is taken from the account by the same name (‘Artpop’), and the internet rumour-mill has gone into overdrive that the new channel, which was only set up two days ago, may well be more official than the Gaga-camp are letting on.

Artpop is confirmed as the eccentric singer’s forthcoming album, the follow-up to 2011’s highly successful Born This Way, and set for release on November 11th. The album will be preceded by an as-yet-untitled single, due for release August 19th.

West London’s very own star-in-the-making Little Nikki will support Mutya Keisha Siobhan at London’s Scala on August 1st.

The sold-out gig will be Mutya Keisha Siobhan’s first headline show in over 12 years. Tickets were snapped up by eager fans in just 14 minutes when they went on sale earlier this month. Fans can expect to hear hits from the original Sugababes line-up alongside new material including the upcoming single Flatline.

Since bursting onto the music scene in April 2012 with the acclaimed ‘Intro Intro’, 17-year-old Little Nikki has toured with Rita Ora and Rizzle Kicks, while being tipped for success by MTV, The Independent, We Love Pop, Grazia, Pride, The Line of Best Fit among many others.

The 17-year-old, who last week debuted her brand new single Little Nikki Says is set to bring the energy, power and raw talent for which she is known to the stage for what promises to be a memorable performance.

Little Nikki said: “I am so excited to be invited to support Mutya Keisha Siobhan at Scala. I can’t wait to perform and then see the girls back on stage together!”
