Ahead of the imminent release of his upcoming album ‘Jesus Is King’, Kanye West has confirmed a companion movie with the same name will hit cinemas globally next month.
Set to be screened exclusively in IMAX theatres across the world from 25th October, the documentary was filmed throughout the summer, and centres around visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert. According to the IMAX press release, the “one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with music from his new album Jesus Is King”.
Excerpts from the film have so far been shared at various listening parties in Detroit and Chicago over the weekend; meanwhile the ‘Jesus Is King’ album is expected to land today (29th September) after plans to release the record on 27th September failed to materialise.
