Rage Against the Machine have confirmed early rumours of a reunion, with a series of shows alongside a headline slot at 2020’s Coachella.

Set to appear together for the first time since 2011, the band will initially play three shows near (or along) the Mexican border – El Paso, Las Cruses and Phoenix – before heading to California in April for Coachella’s double weekends.

Earlier this year, Tom Morello downplayed chances of a reunion, telling Consequence of Sound “I would say, rather than people waiting around for Rage Against the Machine, form your own band… Let’s hear what you have to say. Get out there and do it. Don’t sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting for some other band to do it”.

According to reports, the possibility of Donald Trump winning a second term at next year’s presidential election compelled the band to reform.
