Manic Street Preachers and The Specials have been announced as headliners for this summer’s Splendour in Nottingham.
Cited as the biggest outdoor event in Nottinghamshire, Splendour 2019, which takes place on 20th July, will welcome the Manics following the band topping a survey conducted by the festival organisers. James Dean Bradfield, Sean Moore and Nicky Wire will perform music from across the illustrious career, which has included top billing at Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, T in the Park, and V Festival. The show will mark the band’s first performance in the Nottingham since playing Rock City in 2007.
The Manics will also be joined by ska pioneers The Specials, who are currently also gearing up for their 40th anniversary tour across the UK. They will release their first new album in over 38 years, ‘Encore’ in February.
“Manic Street Preachers and The Specials are two legendary bands and have made a huge mark on the UK music scene” says Splendour’s George Atkins. “We’re delighted to have them both with us on the main stage at Splendour celebrating two very special anniversaries. The crowd can expect a belter set of some of their greatest hits.”
