Stormzy has been announced as the first headliner for next year’s Glastonbury Festival, following previous clues by the MC himself earlier in the summer.
Revealed moments ago via a pre-printed copy of the festival’s own ‘Glastonbury Free Press’ (which was placed in the shop window of Pilton’s Oxfam), the Croydon artist’s appointment to the Pyramid Stage will mark a strong global platform for grime in its entirety, and comes ahead of Stormzy’s anticipated second studio album, expected early-2019.
Back in August, Stormzy hinted his Glastonbury appearance by sharing Noel Gallagher’s infamous 2008 quote about Jay Z’s headline appearance that year – “I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.” he said, prior to Jay winning acclaim for his striking set.
