The odds of Kendrick Lamar headlining Glastonbury 2019 have been slashed by bookmaker Betway, replacing Led Zeppelin as the favourite to hit up the Pyramid Stage.

Reduced down to 1/2 (from 6/1) to secure a place as one of next year’s three Glastonbury headliners, Lamar has also come ahead of other favourites including Fleetwood Mac and Arctic Monkeys.

The latest betting suggests the twelve-time Grammy Award winner is now at the top of Emily Eavis’ list of potential Pyramid Stage performers, while odds on Elton John have also been slashed.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer has shot to second in the betting at evens, having previously been 5/1 to get a headline slot, with the rush of support suggesting a Worthy Farm performance could form part of Elton’s Yellow Brick Road farewell tour (though we would also assume a 2020 appearance is more likely).

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “There was a whole lotta love for Led Zeppelin in the Glastonbury headliner betting a fortnight ago but the most significant recent support has been for Kendrick Lamar….Kanye West, Beyonce and Jay Z have all played the Pyramid Stage, so signing up a US hip hop act wouldn’t be too controversial with festival goers and Kendrick Lamar is now as short as 1/2 to headline next year.”

Glastonbury Festival will return to its Worthy Farm home on 26–30 June 2019, with ticket sales expected in October. Betway’s latest 2019 odds read as follows:

To headline the Pyramid Stage:
Kendrick Lamar 1/2
Elton John 1/1
Fleetwood Mac 5/2
Swedish House Mafia 7/2
Artic Monkeys 9/2
ABBA 5/1
Led Zeppelin 8/1
Calvin Harris 8/1
Stormzy 9/1
