Prior to revealing this year’s winner, Mercury Music Prize host Lauren Laverne welcomed 2016’s recipient Skepta back onstage to deliver a special performance of Man, lifted from last year’s Konnichiwa.
Performing in front of a black and red backdrop, the grime MC (who gave shouts to 2017 nominees J Hus and Stormzy during his appearance) was also joined onstage by frequent Tyler, The Creator collaborator Rex Orange County.
