Janet Jackson has spun fans into excitement-mode ater posting a mysterious countdown timer on her official website.

Little is currently known as to what the timer is counting down toward (it concludes at midnight GMT tonight, 1st May GMT UPDATE: the time has been pushed back to 02:00 GMT), however fans are pointing that it could well be aligning with an announcement of a new world tour.

Last year Janet had to cancel her Unbreakable World Tour after falling pregnant; she also recently returned to headlines following her split from husband Wissam Al Mana. The events of the past twelve months have reportedly led to the Rhythm Nation star focusing her energy on new material, particularly on writing “positive, uplifting music about becoming a mother”.

Rumours have continued to press on over the past few weeks regarding the new shows falling under the State Of The World moniker, particularly following a chance listing on the Live Nation website (which has since been removed).

Producer Jimmy Jam, who has worked with Janet countless times throughout her career, added further fuel to fire this morning, tweeting that the “Best thing about the countdown is [Janet’s] fans will get it first, straight from her lips”.
