The past few months have seen rumours flying regarding Glastonbury Festival’s move from its current Somerset home to Longleat in Wiltshire. However whilst the festival’s founder Michael Eavis has distanced himself from any kind of permanent move, he has expanded on a trial on a temporary basis.

Speaking to Glastonbury’s daily on-site newspaper the Glastonbury Free Press, Eavis said of the move “It’s really on the backburner now. But it’s something we’re looking at for the next fallow year, which is likely to be in 2019.”


“It’s important that we try another site. We could have all kinds of problems here with livestock, which could close us down. Longleat is only 18 miles down the road, and it looks like a good place if we ever did an alternative site.”

Previously Emily Eavis has mentioned there was still an appetite to expand their festival-roots, telling of future plans for a new event. “It’s going to be the whole team behind the Glastonbury Festival but it’s not going to be called Glastonbury”.
