Following earlier reports of a Paisley Park fatality, TMZ has confirmed that iconic performer Prince has died – he was 57.

Last week, the singer’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing due to unknown circumstances, though appeared onstage the following day telling fans he was recovering from flu.

The multi-instrumentalist sold over 100m records in his career, including an expansive collection of awards – his 2007 Super Bowl performance has been noted as one of the greatest performances of all time.

Deputies apparently appeared at Prince’s home just before 10am this morning, with Carver County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud reportedly saying next-of-kin are currently being notified.

Purple PR, the press agency that handled Prince’s UK affairs, have confirmed the news, telling Sky “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
