Following various rumours, Jeff Lynne’s ELO have been confirmed to fill this year’s Glastonbury Festival ‘legends’ slot.

Announced by Glastonbury organisers moments ago, Jeff Lynne and his cohorts will bring their set to the final day of Glastonbury 2016, hitting up the coveted Sunday afternoon show on the Pyramid Stage on 26th June.

Originally confirmed by The Sun over the weekend, ELO’s appointment to the afternoon slot will see them follow in the footsteps of other greats, including Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie. Historically often attracting the largest crowd over the entire weekend, the ‘teatime legends slot’ is now considered by many as Glastonbury’s unofficial ‘fourth headliner’.

Back last November, Emily Eavis teased the band’s appearance, saying “It’s a major coup for us and a genuine surprise. I don’t think anyone has rumoured or guessed this one.”

Glastonbury organisers are still remaining tight-lipped around the full line-up, though online forums have heavily pointed to the likes of Coldplay, Rihanna and Rod Stewart amongst the rumour-mill.The festival returns to its Worthy Farm home in Somerset from 22-26 June – a ticket resale will take place in the April
