If you would’ve told us, even just a few months back, that the tail-end of 2015 would belong to UK soul, we would probably question you heavily, however with Maverick Sabre and Jamie Woon both releasing their anticipated new projects recently, it seems that the genre is on a massive trajectory upwards.
It’s therefore exciting that more and more talent is coming through to push the boundaries, one of which is Louis Mattrs. Following last month’s beautiful Superman, the Brighton-based artist has now delivered WGW, his striking mid-tempo collaboration Chicago rapper Lucki Eck$.
Lifted from Louis’ Slow Waves EP (which drops in a month’s time), WGW is a fine stab that, alongside the aforementioned Superman, will help move him away from ‘just’ a Chase and Status-collaborator, to a performer in his own right.
