FKA Twigs has had nothing short of a hectic year, what with not only her debut album LP1 winning accolades from every corner of the planet, but also a support tour for the record spanning an extensive number of dates.

Today, with her tour now finally at its end point, Twigs has shared all-new music by way of Figure 8. Already a staple in her recent live shows, the track (recorded a few months after the LP1 sessions concluded) is also the first cut from the singer’s as-yet-untitled forthcoming EP.

And the inspiration behind the name of the track? Speaking to Zane Lowe earlier today (he premiered Figure 8 on his Beats 1 radio show), Twigs explained that she was “thrown into a weird world” after the release of LP1, so hopped to New York where she learned to dance, and specifically vogue. Her dance teacher (Derek Prodigy) informed her that every hand movement in a vogue replicates the ‘figure of 8’, and she was enlightened by the ideology that the figure represents “the eternal move that never stops moving.”

So, there you have it!

Cop a listen to Figure 8 at the top of this post; a release date for the new EP has yet to be announced.
