It’s that time of year when Glastonbury Festival rumours start to rear their head, and today all signs seem to point to Coldplay leading the charge as one of this summer’s headliners.

According to eFestivals, Coldplay, whose recent studio album Ghost Stories stormed the charts last year, are widely expected to top the Pyramid Stage for the third time, and set to coincide with the release of their forthcoming seventh studio album.

eFestivals announce they are “confident” of the band’s appearance, particularly following Chris Martin’s hinting last year that the new album could indeed be their last. “It’s our seventh thing” Martin told Radio 1, continuing “the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something.” If Coldplay are indeed confirmed, it would be a fitting swan-song for their impeccable career.

Lionel Ritchie is so far the only major artist to be confirmed for Glastonbury 2015, which runs from 24-28th June at the site’s home of Somerset’s Worthy Farm.
