Firmly established as one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in Ibiza’s summer season, Radio 1 have confirmed the line-up for their three-day appearance in the White Isle this summer.
Returning for the 19th year, Radio 1’s four-hour broadcast will kick off on 1st August, and feature performances from David Guetta, Duke Dumont, Kiesza, Afrojack, Erik Prydz, MK and Hot Since 82. They will all be performing at a free party at the Ushuaia Beach Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa with around 7,000 music fans expected to attend. Nick Grimshaw will be providing the official warm up from 6pm on Radio 1, broadcasting live from a beach location to get listeners in the party spirit before the main event gets underway (7pm until 11pm UK time) with DJ sets from some of the leading names in dance music.
Meanwhile, on Saturday 2 August, Radio 1 will return to Cream @ Privilege for an exclusive event. The special live extended five-hour Essential Mix will begin at 12midnight and will feature sets from Steve Angello and Above & Beyond, with Sasha and Pete Tong performing back to back. The bumper line-up also includes Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, MistaJam, Friction, Toddla T and B.Traits featuring MC Juma, as well as Oliver $, Huxley, Wilkinson, Second City, T.Williams, plus a special guest still to be announced.
Danny Howard will host a special Ibiza edition of Radio 1’s Dance Anthems on Saturday 2 August, showcasing the hottest new music from the clubs on the island and MistaJam will take over the airwaves from 7-9pm with a live Ibiza show, simulcast across both Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra. Annie Mac will round off Radio 1 in Ibiza on Sunday 3 August, broadcasting a Sunday evening show from the island.
Listeners back home in the UK can tune in or log on to enjoy coverage of Radio 1 in Ibiza via the live Radio 1 shows and online at the Radio 1 website. You can also listen on the go through the mobile and BBC iPlayer Radio apps. Radio 1’s free party at Ushuaia will also be live streamed in vision at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and there will be highlights of the weekend on Radio 1’s YouTube channel.
