Lily Allen has unveiled the official video to Sheezus, the title-track from the artist’s forthcoming third studio album.

The song, which pays a strong homage to female empowerment (of which Lily has previously been a strong advocate for), sees Allen reference the likes of Rihanna, Lorde, Beyonce and Katy Perry – “Lorde smells blood, yeah, she’s about to slay you. Clearly one to fuck with when she’s only on her debut”.

Sheezus, as a track, is incredibly strong (far surpassing previous single Our Time), however it does now lead to question the commercial success of the upcoming album (out next month). With six of the album’s fourteen tracks having already been released in some form or another (Hard Out Here, Somewhere Only We Know, L8 CMMR, Air Balloon, Our Time, and now Sheezus), it may take something pretty special to drive fans to buy effectively a 9-song album.

Regardless though, Allen is a pioneer of modern-day pop, and if Sheezus (the track) is anything to show, the album will definitely be worthy of a purchase.
