Two people have died with many more injured after a car sped through a barricaded area at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.

**UPDATE** Associated Press have confirmed:
– 2 deceased
– 2 in critical condition
– 3 in serious condition
– 3 hospitalized, non-life threatening
– 15 released

The fatal crash in the early hours of this morning (13th March), was seen by eyewitnesses, with some saying the car sped through at up to 70mph, knocking pedestrians down in a ‘rampage’.

Footage has been captured of the post-incident (below); according to reports, the driver of the vehicle has now been taken into custody. It’s likely that when the driver will be [inevitably] charged, he will face two counts of murder alongside 23 counts of ‘aggravated assault with a vehicle’.

Tyler, The Creator was set to play at the Mohawk venue at 1am (half an hour after the alleged time of the incident), however the performance was cancelled following the events. The rapper took to Twitter to break the news:

**UPDATE** SXSW have released the following statement regarding the incident:

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the tragic accident that took place last night here in Austin.

We appreciate and commend the first responders, as well as the city agencies who so quickly sprung into action.

We will be making schedule and venue changes for programming in the surrounding area of last night’s events. All other programming will continue as previously scheduled.
