Following his rise to fame on American Idol several years back, singer Adam Lambert has announced plans to rejoin iconic rock band Queen for a set of dates around North America this summer.

Announcing the new partnership earlier this morning on US TV show Good Morning America, Lambert, who was joined by original Queen band members Roger Taylor and Brian May, said “Queen is the quintessential rock band of all time…they’ve influenced bands for years… it’s a dream come true to be able to bring [these songs] to life on stage”

This is not the first time the two acts have united, with various performances appearing together over recent years, most notably during the final of American Idol‘s 2009 season.

Coinciding with Lambert’s appearance on the show this morning, Chic frontman Nile Rodgers, who has worked with the star on numerous occasions previously, tweeted that he would be happy for him to join his Chic band onstage whenever both parties wanted.

Tickets for the Queen/Lambert tour will go on sale next Friday (14th March) direct from Ticketmaster. Click here for more information.
