Music discovery website Last.fm has teamed up with Spotify, the web services have confirmed. Spotify have made their full catalogue available to Last.fm users, the latest cog of ‘refreshment’ for the site who is currently undergoing some big changes – the site recently teamed up with YouTube to provide content for its personal radio service.

As per all new Spotify users who must now have a Facebook account, Last.fm users will now be asked to sign up for a Spotify username, and to synchronise their profiles with their accounts. Spotify’s player will launch across the site with music played through Last.fm

Last.fm’s managing director Simon Moran, said “This collaboration with Spotify brings the together the best qualities of both services, creating a stronger listening and discovery experience for music lovers across the globe.

There is a [short-term] drawback however, the service will only work in markets that Spotify currently operate, however with most major markets pretty much covered, we can’t see this being a major setback for the majority.
