Acclaimed artist Alanis Morissette has confirmed that her iconic album Jagged Little Pill is to be the centrepiece of a new stage musical-theatre piece.

The album, arguably one of the finest pop debut LPs in the past twenty years, turned Morissette into an international upon its release in 1995, and will borrow its title to the stage show, which is planned for 2014.

Curated and arranged by acclaimed Tony Award-winner Tom Kitt, Jagged Little Pill, the show is set to include many of the songs from the album, along with further tracks from Morissette’s discography. The singer is also planning to write further ordinal pieces for the show.

On whether she would be appearing onstage to support the production, Morissette said “I don’t know whether it would be me starting in the role or coming in at some point, but I’m totally open to the possibility of that…. I think once (the book) is written, it will become more obvious whether I was born to originate the role.”

If you’ve yet to own Jagged Little Pill in your collection, Amazon are selling the album in its original form for less than a fiver! Definitely worth dipping your hand in your pocket for. More on the stage show as and when we hear it:
