Scottish singer Emeli Sandé has earned another accolade to add to her already overflowing bow; her debut album Our Version Of Events has officially spent the most consecutive weeks in the UK Top 10 than any debut album. The previous record was owned by The Beatles with their first release Please Please Me, released 50 years ago in 1963.

Our Version Of Events, released over a year ago in February 2012, became the biggest selling album of last year and, according to The Official Charts Company has been a staple in the UK Top 10 since its release. Whilst The Beatles’ debut effort remained in the coveted charts for 62 weeks, Sande’s Our Version Of Events has beaten that by one, spending 63 weeks (so far!) within the Top 10.

Speaking of the accolade, The Official Charts Company said:

Our Version Of Events has to date sold 1.82 million copies in the UK, spending 10 weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, and breaking the 100,000 sales in a week tally on three separate occasions. With 429,000 sales racked up already since the new year, the album is leading the way as 2013’s biggest seller also. The album has also enjoyed platinum status in Germany, France, Belgium and Ireland.
