Pop/electro duo Goldfrapp have just announced their return to the music scene.

The band, who hit mainstream success with third album, 2005’s ‘Supernature’ have been away from the limelight since 2010’s short-LP ‘Head First’. Their new album was confirmed at the turn of the month, after announcing on Lauren Laverne’s BBC6 show ‘We’ve written it and recorded it, then we’re going to mix it and go back and write some more new stuff. It’s the first time we’ve done things this way round’.

The as-yet-untitled new album will be released in the summer, whilst fans will be given a live preview at the Manchester International Festival in July.

Other performers confirmed at the MIF include Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack.
