One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have taken to Twitter to respond to singer Jake Bugg’s mocking during a recent interview.

Bugg’s responded with negativity when asked about One Direction during his interview with Shortlist Magazine earlier this week:

“Oh, I’m pretty sure they have a good laugh, but it’s easy to, isn’t it? When you don’t have to write any songs. People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don’t mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they’re terrible. They must know… Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it.”

[Niall] Horan opened the reaction by tweeting to his 9m+ followers ‘[It] really buggs me that artists we’re fans of flip on us in the press!’

Tomlinson then continued by saying ‘Hi @JakeBugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie?’

One Direction recently walked away with the first ever Global Success Award at this week’s BRIT Awards ceremony, though lost out to Best British Group with the gong going to Grammy-winners Mumford and Sons.
