“This is a Grammy moment that millions of us have been waiting for. This performance marks the return of a man that was born to make music.”

Yep, that’s how Beyonce and Ellen Degeneres introduced established singer/songwriter Justin Timberlake last night as he wowed audiences taking the stage at the annual Grammy Awards.

The performance, Timberlake’s first Grammy performance since blog-favourite ‘What Goes Around’ 4 years ago, was set in a way Bruno Mars could only wish for. The performance of new single ‘Suit and Tie’ was filmed in sepia (yes, Instagramming your TV!). It fitted perfectly with the direction Timberlake is taking on his new music.

Already a highly energetic [and choreographed] performance, halfway through the set, JT called upon collaborator Jay-Z to take the helm. Though debatable whether Mr Z’s inclusion of the track was worthwhile, his appearance on the performance added an extra level of ‘wowness’.

Once Jay-Z left the stage, JT then treated the audience to song ‘Pusher Love Girl’. The track, which appears with ‘Suit and Tie’ on forthcoming album ‘The 20/20 Experience’, is more of a Maxwell-y vibe and was used to showcase Timberlake”s falsetto tone that many have been used to in the past. A very ‘smooth’ track and an outstanding performance of the two track all in.
